Drama

DRAMA 1 – 6TH GRADE

DRAMA 1 is a semester class for 6th graders.  It introduces skills necessary to be successful in middle school.  Drama 1 students read and write simple scripts using informational text, as well as practicing strategies to be a good public speaker.  Reader’s Theatre and drama games teach students to focus and develop trust with their peers.

DRAMA 2 – 7TH/8TH GRADE

Drama 2 is taught in two-semester classes offered to 7th and 8th graders.  Through our program students develop skills, such as public speaking and advocating for themselves, to help them become successful in life.  Drama 2 students participate in the George Nason Festival, attend plays in the community, participate in workshops and present plays for Kennedy and our community.

Art

KMS has five classes of combined 7th and 8th grade Visual Arts this year; students are in the class in the fall or in the spring.  We make all kinds of art--drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and kinetic art.  Students will be able to enter art in the Scholastics Art Competition starting in February, and selected works will be shown in the APS sponsored art shows throughout the year.
