Nurse
Nursing Services at Kennedy Middle School include a full-time nurse and health assistant. The Nurse is responsible for vision and hearing screenings, as well as health assessments for students who are referred for speech and/or academic assistance. The nurse is available to educate students, parents, and staff regarding treatment of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and asthma, as well as prevention of communicable diseases. The health assistant is certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Every attempt is made to notify parents by phone in the event of sudden injury or illness.
- It is very important that parents update their child's emergency information card in the nurse's office.
- The nursing staff keeps track of immunization records and will contact parents when students are in need of immunizations.
- In order to administer prescription medication at school the nurse's office must have a current authorization form signed by the parent and child's doctor.
- Students who are hospitalized will be readmitted to Kennedy following a parent conference with the nurse.
