Hi, my name is Mr. Parsons, at least that what everybody calls me. I teach seventh grade Physical Science, Math, Social Studies, and Reading here at Kennedy Middle School. I have taught other classes, sixth grade Social Studies, sixth grade Life Science, and seventh grade Earth Science, Social Studies. I enjoy teaching Earth Science the best. I have a BA from University of New Mexico (1980). My field of study is geography. I worked in the private sector for many years. In 1990 I went back to get my teaching certification. I came to Kennedy in 1991 to do my student teaching. I've been here ever since.

I do more than teach here at Kennedy. I have been the sponsor of the Student Council, the head of the science department, and a member of the School Restructing Committee. I serve on the school Discipline Commitee and the school Safety Commitee. I have been a union representative. I also have been the girls and boys basketball coach. I also sponsor and coach the Kennedy Soccer Team.

I have a life away from school, too. My favorite hobbies are soccer, canoeing, and exploring. I am a "D" licensed coach with New Mexico Youth Soccer Association, and have been president of Duke City Soccer League the premier league in New Mexico. During my vacations and spare time away from school I like go river running with my friends. Several other teachers and myself like to take long trips on rivers here in the west. Moderate white water in a full canoe can be very exhilarating. I really enjoy exploring the western US. In the past few years I have been to the Black Hills of South Dakota, Yellowstone National Park, Dinosaur National Monument and many other places. My favorite place to go is the Grand Canyon. There is nothing like standing on the edge of the Canyon in the moonlight to make you feel the magic of the place.

Get out and experience your world.
