Kennedy Middle School Dress Code - 2007-08
Please
note: Although jeans will be allowed this year, they must be solid blue, black,
or tan and they may not have any designs, logos (other than a small brand
label) or appliqués. See “Pants”
section of this document for details.
Shirts:
- Any solid color polo shirt -- short or long
sleeve-- No logos (a brand name label tag or a single applique
less than 1 inch square is permitted)
- No stripes or patterns on shirt with the
exception of thin piping/trim on collar, sleeves or seams
- Any solid color button-down dress
shirts/blouses - short or long sleeve- without logos.
- Two shirts worn at the same time must be the
same color. (White undershirts worn as underwear are allowed) Shirts
worn underneath may not hang under the top shirt at the hem or beyond the
sleeves.
- No plunging necklines that show shirt
underneath
- No bare midriffs or shirts that ride up to
show skin when arms are lifted above head.
Pants:
- Dockers or jeans are allowed. However,
no "grunge" pants (i.e. rips, holes, low-hanging crotches)
- Capri pants, cargo pants, shorts, skirts, and
skorts are allowed
- No designs, logos, writing or prints (brand
name label tags are permitted)
- No sweat pants, warm-ups, or pajamas
- Colors: black, blue, or tan only
Jackets/Sweaters
- Jackets and coats may be worn outside, but not
in the classroom
- Sweaters and sweatshirts, whether pullover,
button-up or zipper (if worn inside the building) must be in solid color,
without logos, designs or prints. Brand name labels of less than 1
inch are permitted. Thin piping on seams, sleeves is allowed.
- All sweaters and sweatshirts can be no longer
than finger tips when using the traditional arms straight-down technique.
Special Notes:
- No gang-related clothing or accessories are
allowed on campus. (Please refer to pages 4 and 22 in the APS Student
Behavior Handbook)
- Girls' skorts and shorts must be long enough
for the hem to hang below the fingertips when the hands are straight down
at the side with the fingers extended.
- No hats or head gear (scarves, bandanas, etc.)
allowed in the building
It is the parents'/guardians' responsibiity to ensure that the
students is in compliance with the above dress code.
The Kennedy administration will make the final decision
regarding appropriateness of dress. All clothing must conform to the APS
Policy regarding dress code (including Reward Dress-Down Days)
